Abstract: Werkbericht (Work Report) No. 1 — Chance and other Methods\Apart from the fundamental question – What actually is Typography? – we examined, in the course of the semester project entitled 'Coincidence and other Methods', experimental techniques and chance operations with the emphasis on typography. In three preliminary exercises, the possibilities of 'experimenting by rules' were sounded out. This method was used in the design, chapter by chapter, of the book 'Die Schrift' by Vilém Flusser – the actual design goal of the course.
